Obiettivi formativi

Il corso si propone di avviare gli studenti alla conoscenza delle più significative istituzioni di carattere educativo e scolastico promosse in Europa dall’Umanesimo alla seconda guerra mondiale alla luce delle teorie elaborate dalle principali correnti pedagogiche dell’epoca.

 Competenze attese

Al termine del ciclo delle lezioni gli studenti dovranno:

- dare prova di conoscere l’evoluzione del pensiero pedagogico nel periodo preso in esame;

- saper operare un confronto tra i principali autori;

- saper ricostruire la storia di una specifica istituzione.

Argomento del corso

Il programma si articola in tre parti:

Studio dei modelli pedagogici ed analisi delle istituzioni scolastico-educative avviate in età moderna per la formazione della classe dirigente e l’istruzione dei ceti popolari.

Presentazione del panorama pedagogico della prima metà del Novecento: dal movimento delle scuole nuove alla reazione anti-positivistica dell’idealismo; dalla proposta marxista al nascita del personalismo.
Analisi del processo di alfabetizzazione in Italia all’indomani dell’Unità: modelli e strategie di intervento per la formazione delle giovani generazioni e per l’educazione della popolazione adulta.

L’esame consisterà in un colloquio orale.
Con gli studenti che frequentano con regolarità le lezioni potranno essere concordate verifiche intermedie, il cui esito positivo sostituirà parte della prova finale d’esame.

Gli studenti che frequentano un modulo di 36 ore (6 cfu) portano come programma i testi indicati ai punti a e b.

Gli studenti che devono sostenere un esame da 10 cfu (vecchio ordinamento) sono tenuti a contattare la docente per una integrazione del programma.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The course intends to introduce students to the knowledge of the most important educational institutions established in Europe from Humanism to the Second World War, focusing on the theories based on the main educational trends of the time.

EXPECTED SKILLS

At the end of the course the students are expected to:

know the evolution of the educational theories in the periods examined

be able to make a comparison of the different authors

be able to recount the history of a specific educational or welfare institution.

SUBJECT OF THE COURSE

The course programme is composed of three parts:

a study of educational models and an analysis of the institutions established in the modern age for the instruction of both upper and lower classes

a review of the educational system in the first half of the twentieth century: from the founding of the New Schools to Idealism as a counter-reaction to Positivism; from the Marxist theories to the beginning of Personalism

an analysis of the diffusion of literacy in Italy after the unification, and of the intervention patterns and strategies aimed to the education of both the young generations and the adult population.

LEARNING RESULTS

Learning results will be checked throughout the course by means of class discussions.

The final exam will consist of an oral test.

Students attending lessons regularly may agree with the teacher on halfway tests, the positive results of which will make up a part of the final exam.

Students attending a 36-hour module (6 cfu) will prepare their exam on textbooks a and b.

Students bound to take a 10-cfu exam (old system) will have to contact their teacher in order to get a programme supplement.

NOTE: students are strongly advised to sit and pass the exam of this course before taking the exam on General Pedagogy.
